Job card › Estimates
Repair estimates and customer approval
Most repair disputes are about money the customer did not expect. A written estimate and one phone call prevent them.
Write the estimate on the job card
Type the estimate at intake. It prints on the job card the customer signs, with the words "approximate". If you cannot estimate before opening the item, write a checking charge instead and say so.
Call before extra work
When the work will cost clearly more than the estimate, stop and call. The maker shows a warning once the bill goes more than 10% above the estimate. Write the customer’s answer in the notes with the date and time.
Advance
For costly parts, take an advance and write it on the job card. It is deducted on the service bill, which shows the balance due.
Items not collected
State in your terms what happens to items left after the ready message (for example, storage at the owner’s risk after 30 days). Send the "ready for pickup" WhatsApp message from the job so the date is on record. Keep the item safe; do not sell or scrap a customer’s property without proper written notice and legal advice.
Warranty on repairs
If you give a warranty on parts or work, write the period in the notes of the service bill ("Labour warranty 30 days, parts as per manufacturer").
